Hi my name is Isla Gillinder, and I wear many hats. Living and working on a rural property one has to be diverse in many roles to make ends meet. I am a wife to the most awesome man ever, Ken, who understands my obsessions and supports all my passions and crazy ideas.
I am a proud mother to 5 adult children and the privilege to be a grandmother to 15 adorable cherubs. As a mother of five children, sewing and creativity has always been part of my life making my wedding gown and designing and sewing my daughter's formal gown and many cloths for my children.
Having raised my family, and now they have started their own journeys, and with friends spread out across the country, my role changed, and I felt disconnected. My sister encouraged me to join her and her patchwork group. This changed my life, I found that Patchwork and Quilting offers a sense of belonging and it strengthen my relationship with my sister. I also found that the wonderful benefits of my involvement in quilt making has been the new friends I've made.
On 5th August 2005 my husband and I opened Twilight Crafts a bricks & mortar shop in the small country town of Esk in South East Queensland. We could see the need for a fabric shop so the ladies of the town didn't have to drive for one hour to the nearest city.
Twilight Crafts was privileged to be apart of the Quilter's Trail with other amazing Patchwork & Quilting Shops of South East Queensland and enjoyed many bus trips to other fabric tores.
My daughter Tamara became interested in patchwork and quilting after the birth of her first babe and eventually started her own machine quilting business in Brisbane. (Quick Stitch Quilting) in late 2010.
When the floods of 2011 came the business became unprofitable, so we moved our patchwork shop back to the farm. We operate a Bed & Breakfast Twilight Grove B&B on our property, the shop has now become vital part of this, with retreats and shopping for fabric all in the same place.
The online store has become another way of selling fabric to our extended quilting family and friends. We pride ourselves being a little shop with a big heart, Our clients become part of our extended family by joining us on retreat and submerge themselves in their chosen craft with other like-minded ladies. While our guests are on retreat they can enjoy shopping 24 hours.
I am very proud to say we are a mother-daughter trio(Isla and Tamara) who havean intense passion and love of all things quilting. From a Fabric Shop(Twilight Crafts) to professional long-arm quilting service (Quick Stitch Quilting), our shop has it all, including quilting retreats at Twilight Grove B&B & Twilight 2 Twilight Country Retreats.
Twilight 2 Twilight Country Retreats is right next door to Twilight Crafts and is an exclusive Boutique Weekend Retreat Destination! Twilight 2 Twilight offers a much needed respite. "Twilight 2 Twilight" retreats have been designed specifically for scrapbookers, quilters and crafters.
T2T has a fully air-conditioned studio is a unique workspace designed to inspire creativity in a fun, relaxed social setting. You are invited to share ideas, learn new techniques and connect with others who are passionate about creating beautiful and memorable masterpieces that will be cherished forever.
We pride ourselves on delivering authentic, friendly country service. We invite you to join us come take classes or just hang out and sew. Whatever your preference, we have tea, coffee and scones with jam and cream on hand and a place to spread out and create!
