It has been a highly memorable year for Twilight Crafts. We have seen the innovative birth of “Twilight 2 Twilight Weekend Retreats” & successful inclusion into the Quilters’ Trail & Muster. We have supported the Esk Biannual Girl Guides Quilt Show, and became a destination for numerous quilting group bus trips! Along with the relentless magazine exposure, we would like to thank you all for your support!

Facts on October
Gemstone: Opal Flower: Calendula
In the old Roman calendars, October was the eighth month of the year and got its name from the word 'Octo' meaning eight.
The Saxons called it Wyn Monath because it was the season of wine making.
Halloween October 31st (Eve of All Hallows) plays host to traditional Halloween celebrations. Thought to be the one night of the year when ghosts, witches, and fairies are especially active.
On October 29, 1837 Harriet Powers an African-American folk artist was born. She is now nationally recognized for her quilts, by using traditional appliqué technique, Powers recorded local legends, Bible stories, and astronomical events on her quilts.
~ October has been designated Family History Month ~
When I learned that October is Family History Month I immediately thought it would be a great time for us to consider our part in the ongoing history.
QUILTING
Investigate Into Your Family's Quilting History
Throughout history, people have enjoyed quilts for many different reasons. Quilts can provide clues to the past. Quilts can provide warmth. Quilts can provide beauty and value. Quilts can provide heritage. Quilts can provide enjoyment from working with color, texture, and pattern.
Consider the quilters in your family and the quilts made by your great grandmother, grandmother and mothers and appreciate the time and effort that went into it. However it’s just as important to document and record your own quilting. Yes! Your present day quilts will become a part of the history! So document yours successes as you go…
SCRAPBOOKING
Delve into Your Family's History by creating a family Tree
Document your family’s history and create a lasting gift/memory for future generations. A heritage scrapbook album is the perfect place to showcase and protect your precious family photos, heirlooms and memories. So this is the month to start what might seem as a daunting task when faced with boxes of dusty old photos, but with a little help and guidance it is actually both fun and easier than you might think!
